This holiday season especially, support local businesses and shop nearby.
This year, we’ve stayed home much more than usual, so we haven’t been supporting our local businesses quite as much.
I know I did more online shopping than I typically would have. So today I’m pledging to support more local businesses this holiday season by being more deliberate with my shopping, more purposeful with the gifts I choose, and I’m starting my holiday shopping earlier so I’m not rushed. The bike I’m buying my son will come from a local bike shop this year, and the jewelry I’m getting my daughter will most likely come from Made by Soto in Stock Island. My friends who have yet to try it are getting a gift card to my favorite lunch spot, One Love food truck.

You can help by getting out there and supporting local businesses, purchasing gift cards from them, and don’t forget—you can shop online from many local places! If you do support a local business, don’t forget to leave them a review because that helps others find out about their business and keeps the love flowing. This holiday season I urge you to be attentive, mindful, and purposeful with your gift-giving.
